It can be hard to remember when the person next to you is casually standing on her head, but everyone – at every yoga studio everywhere – was once new to yoga.

At Elan Yoga, we strive to provide a welcoming environment in which you can begin to cultivate and grow your yoga practice at a pace that feels natural to your body. Every class is designed to challenge and guide students of all levels into the expression of the postures most suited to induvial levels of ability – and our experienced and highly trained Ft. Collins yoga instructors are here to help you every step of the way.

Anusara

60 Minutes – Two classes weekly

A style of yoga that focuses on the foundations of alignment and healthy fluid movements to support the natural curves of the body. By paying close attention to the processes of yoga with proper alignment, Anusara helps build a solid foundation for your practice and unfolds the depth of radical expansion that unfurls from full participation and quality engagement.

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Comfortable clothing that allows movement
  • Water bottle

Ashtanga

70 Minutes – Four classes weekly
90 Minutes (full primary series) – One class weekly

A wonderful introduction to the fundamental practice of Ashtanga Yoga. Including standing and seated postures, inversions, backbends, ujjayi breath, bandhas (locks), and drishti (visual focus). Through modifications, the class will be made accessible to all. This class allows beginning students to feel knowledgeable and confident enough in their alignment to participate in Ashtanga 90 class.

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Towel (you will sweat)
  • Tighter fitting clothing that will not hinder more progressive movements
  • Water bottle

Hot Yoga

60 Minutes – Four classes weekly
70 minutes – Ten classes weekly
90 Minutes – One class weekly

Hot Yoga is a posture-based yoga class taught in a room heated to 101 degrees. This is a great class to start your yoga practice with. The heat soothes your muscles, improves circulation and enhances the stretch of each posture. You will sweat and improve your strength flexibility and balance!

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Towel
  • Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting sweaty
  • Water bottle

Hot Mix

60 Minutes – One class weekly
70 Minutes – Five classes weekly

A spin on your favorite Hot 70 class, add some flow based postures and core strengthening for a challenging and invigorating class.  Good prep for Vinyasa classes.

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Towel
  • Comfortable clothing that does not hinder movements
  • Water bottle

Kids Yoga

70 Minutes – Five classes weekly

This is a great alternative to the average child care. Your child will participate in a yoga class as well as other activities planned by our staff! Meanwhile, you are welcome to take a class upstairs!

  • Water bottle
  • Sense of adventure

Vinyasa

60 Minutes – Two classes weekly
70 Minutes – Nine classes weekly

Take your yoga practice to the next level. The postures flow one right into the next. Instructors will guide you into safe, intermediate-level inversions and arm balances. Upper body and core strengthening are included in this class. Beginners are welcome as modifications and intensifications are always offered.

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Comfortable clothing that does not hinder movement
  • Water bottle

Yin Yoga

60 Minutes – One class weekly
70 Minutes – Four classes weekly

Yin Yoga will help you develop a supple, resilient body. This class will increase strength and flexibility in the muscles, tendons and joints. Restriction and tension throughout the body can be released by holding postured from 1 to 3 minutes with the use of mindful breathing. Strengthening postures for the stomach and back will be repeated and held for a shorter duration of time. Props such as blocks, blankets and straps can be used as an aid in class. This is a great starting yoga class, but is also beneficial for advanced level practitioners for deepening their postures.

Vin/Yin Fusion

60 Minutes – One class weekly

Flexibility and strength unite in this practice. Begin with breathe work and Fusions of longer held yin postures,3-5 minutes allowing deep release of connective tissues. Then integrate a gentle flow of postures awakening the Muscles. This class allows time to soak in the practice ending in final relaxation. Adding an optional element of Aromatherapy.

No Mat? No Problem.

We have mats available for both rental and purchase, and towels available to rent for those hotter classes. Our three clean and bright studios are fully equipped with bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets to help support your postures when needed. These props are typically distributed by the instructor when postures will make them necessary, but you are welcome to grab what you need before class begins as well. There is no charge for props, but they are shared throughout the community. If you desire your own block or bolster, we have retail options available.
